professional vs hood....which side do you use and when.
Ok let's kick it off and see if anyone responds.I was in a meeting today and I had on my best professional Mr Hendrix vibe. However they began to say things and discuss things in such a randomly vague manor that I began to get frustrated. There is only but so much I can tolerate when it comes to beating around the bush. You can talk and give me those empty answers , saying alot without saying anything definite, before Reese my hood alternative side comes to play. Now he doesn't start to curse or use slang or anything like that. However he does get to the bottom of things real quick and in a direct manor. This can be scary to some or impressive to others. Its like the incredible hulk when I get pissed off i start to turn green. Does anyone else have these issues at the job?? Or am I the only one stepping out on whitey and giving them a taste of the streets when they get outta pocket?

I don't really think that's pro vs hood, I think that's Reese being Real and not falling for the tomfoolery. I go thru this at my job where everything is a damn competition about what knowledge you know and what articles you may (or may not) have read to prove your scientific theory as to how to better care for this patient.
Personally I can only speak in medical jargon for so long until I don't even recognize myself speaking. It's pitiful. I also realize it's a part of maturity to adapt to your environment, but losing yourself in it I think is a great crime.
So no Reese I don't think you're being hood by getting thru the bullshit, you just refuse to play the game, as I don't play it either. I've been accused of being a militant or angry Black because I don't cowtow to authority everytime there is a question and I speak up with my opinion (tactfully) if I'm in quetion instead of apologizing (most often for nothing) if there was a problem, whether I'm at fault or not...I flat out refuse to do it...
I guess that's why in the end we're all Scholars and Scoundrels because we know when to flip the switch or wear both hats.
I too have moments at work when my patience is tested and my "asshole" nature is exposed. Early in my career I was called into a conference room to discuss my "aggressive" nature and the impression I was starting to leave with some of my coworkers. Hence the angry black Morehouse man was born. I have since become more clever and methodical with my victims. My approach is much more systematic and usually results in some form of public embarrassment for them. This ultimately proves to be less intimidating and more rewarding.
payton-
I like your approach you share the pain with the whole damn office at the cost of a loser employee . Fucking sweet...I too have tried that method only to have gone to far and end up back where I started the aggressive negro.
The key to office politics is to be friends with the head of your business. I'm friends with a cat one step down from the CEO and we conspicuously shake hands in front of folks. Its playing the game, but when you have the right people in your corner people know to back the fuck up.
